The Bridge Run

Post by Rachel August on Wed Jul 24, 2013 1:23 pm

I signed up for the GR Bridge Run today – 10 miles… it’s not until September 15 (I thought about signing up for the Blueberry Festival run in August - but because of my “new-found-love” Rolling Eyes of the heat I just can’t commit to anything in the summer anymore)

This will be the longest run event I’ve done since surgery….I know, I know – someone please come over here and turn off my brain so that I can make it past 9.5 miles!!! Hopefully I’ll have run more than a 10 miler before this race – one can only hope.

That's a great race goal Rachel and I know you'll be fine... It just takes time and the proof of doing it before you can become comfortable with longer distances again. It doesn't matter if you ran it 100 times before. The heart surgery changes everything.

You are going to be just fine! Mind over running. Your training looks great so no doubt you'll finish and finish strong!

Good for you signing up. You have lots of time to get ready and just think it'll put you in top shape for your Syracuse relay.

Rachel,
“The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right. Which one are you?” - Henry Ford
From what I know about you my money is on the "can do". You have come along way and there are a lot of races ahead of you. Your going to do fine.

Thanks so much again everyone for all your positive comments - your support really keeps me going!!!

Trish, I've never run this before so not sure what the course is like but GR has many bridges that cross the Grand River...and most are level (it's pretty flat here in general)

I'll let you know how I do.

Sounds great, have a wonderful run and build from there - you should have some cooler weather coming up at least?
