Back is out now

Post by marathonman60 on Wed Jul 17, 2013 9:31 am

Had MRI yesterday - ruptured disc in back between 4 and 5. Looking at pic, my back goes left for first 5 vertebrae, then straightens out. Explains lifetime of back pain. Should be better 4-6 weeks.

That certainly doesn't sound pretty. Are you going to bypass surgery and see a good sports chiropractor and do lots of stretching. A good yoga class could help too. I'm just against a knife fixing everything. Good luck regardless of what you choose.

Chiropractor has medieval device that pushed down on hips and up on ribs and relieves pressure on spine. Used it last time - pain free in 6 weeks. Had surgery years ago - lost 3 months of my life. No surgery. Amazing how an 1/8 inch of disc debris can be so debillitating.

Sorry to hear you're suffering Tom and I hope it improves soon. I never really understood back pain until I hurt mine... Unbelievably painful!

Started therapy today. Chiropractor has medieval torture device that pushes down on hips and up on ribs. Additional therapy tomorrow for arthritis on spine.

Sorry about your back, Tom. I hope you get the relief you want from the chiropractor.
Those discs can cause all kinds of misery.

I reinjured my back August 17. 8 days of big pain. Sunday it started to calm down. Doing exercises. Lost 12 pounds. Won't be healed until end of Sept. I got my CA running kit, and I look brilliant. (Old) ! I'll save it for next year.

back pain sucks! Sorry you are suffering Tom. Agree that surgery should be last option but should still be an option. I suffered all of 2012 and tried all other treatments all year. Being woken up in pain every time I moved in my sleep. then having my leg buckle underneath me as I tried to get out of bed and stand.

Finally went under the knife. Funny thing is when I woke the first morning after surgery my nurse offered me pain meds. I asked why and she responded that I just had surgery. I laughed and told her I was in a lot less pain then I had been for over a year.

Almost 9 months latter and all good. Knock on wood!

No pain pills for 4 days. Slowly getting better. I hosted a golf outing Sunday, and just brought one ball and my putter. I felt bad I couldn't help my foursome more, they needed help!
