Plant Positve

Post by Rick S. on Sun Jun 09, 2013 10:13 am

Here are links to a couple of sites authored by a guy who is attempting to translate the science behind benefits of a plant based diet. I am not sure if anyone has any interest in this -but if you do, these commentaries (print and video/audio) will keep you busy for awhile. -Rick

Wow Rick there’s a ton of information here!

I’ve been a vegetarian for the past 23 years and in the past six months I’d say that I’m about a half cup of yogurt a day and 2 eggs a week away from being vegan.

I’m sure everyone’s body needs are different but I don’t miss eating meat and I recently noticed a huge difference when I stopped eating cheese, I feel a whole lot better!

But I also just naturally hate protein, so it’s really easy for me to eat mostly grains, beans, veggies and fruit. My husband on the other hand is total opposite from me!

On the flip side, I’ve also noticed that it has been harder for me to lose weight…but that might just be due to age! Very Happy

Thanks for the link

Kaiser Permanente just put this out in the spring issue of their journal recommending that their doctors (17,000 strong) recommend a plant based diet to their patients.

Thanks, Mike. I had missed this article in my browsing. I find this encouraging. The article does give some lip service to the old saw about protein -I guess because that is what jumps into a lot of minds.

Thanks for checking in, Rachel. Yes, the Plant Positive guy sure does a lot of reading and digesting for us. He seems to be on a mission. I'm glad to hear of your positive experience.
