11 year anniversary

Post by Klemp on Mon Jan 11, 2016 9:08 am

Yesterday marked 11 years since my emergency quad bypass at age 47. I remember that winter as being very cold in northeast Ohio and am now thankful for those cold days. If the air was not as cold as it was, I would not have had those early morning chest pains walking into work from the parking deck. I had spent a entire weekend in the hospital about five weeks before the bypass surgery being checked for heart issues and was sent home. The cardiologist said I had a lung condition called pleurisy. I was also being treated for asthma for about 18 months which I did not have. The cold air triggered the chest pain and difficult breathing which led to a heart cath, the only test that was not done the weekend I spent in the hospital.
Perhaps I will be able to join up with you again for some day as I did in Akron in 2011. I need to get in better running shape. I am using the somewhat new Cleveland Clinic sports cardiology dept for my yearly check up and will be scheduling an appointment for 2016 soon. I went there last summer in June for my initial appointment with them.

Happy Anniversary Robert and many more!!

I knew we had a lot of similarities with our CAD but wow I didn't realize we were this much alike... I was 46, had also been treated long term for asthma that I didn't have, and couldn't exert myself at all when it was cold without what finally was correctly diagnosed as angina... I guess we're both pretty lucky!

I hope we do get together again one day soon Bob and in the meantime good luck with your check up and your running!

Happy 11th, Bob! Scary how so many people seem to discover their conditions by accident.

Any chance you'll make to Cincy in March?

Roadkill, I don't like to use never or ever. However, it will be a longshot I will make the incredible event in Cincy in March. It would be something to see and take part in an event for and about heart patients.

all kidding aside

Nice to hear from you Bob!  I don't think that I've seen you since that relay in the Cuyahoga Valley quite a few years ago.  If your initial incident was eleven years ago, I would think that race was no more than three or four years ago...but time is flying by so quickly for me, that I can't remember yesterday, much less back then.

I do think about you every so often...like just today when I looked on the LogaRun leaderboards and saw your name just ahead of mine!!! GRRRR.

What I meant was GReat to hear from you again, and congratulations on year eleven.
