Goals for 2016

Goals for 2016

I pledge to myself to do some type of physical activity every day.  Smile  My goals for 2016 are:

1. Lose weight
2. Eat better
3. Work out more, even if it's at home with an online video and my own weights (there's a new addition to what I already have, a 15 lb kettlebell)
4. Run more  

I'll be posting my workouts at home and at the Y, and my walking and running on my Garmin Connect account.  I'm also incorporating my walks with the pups as Chester needs to lose a bit too.  Today they did 1.5 miles at a fast pace, we had to stop for potty breaks but overall, they had fun and a good workout.

I am looking at some races to keep me motivated and first up is the Paramount Break-A-Leg 5K on February 14th.  Second race that I'm registered for is the The Statesman Capitol 10,000 on April 10th.  Not sure which 1/2s I'll choose this year but hopefully 2, 3, or dare I say 4. As always one of these will be planned around a vacation.

Good for you, Louise! It's always helpful to have some events on the calendar to motivate. Keep us posted on your 13.1 events.

My big and only goal for 2016 is to finish IM Lake Placid. I succeeded (just barely) in 2005, 2007 and 2009 under good conditions. Hoping I can pull it off one more time despite the unhelpful effects of advancing age. affraid

I like your attitude Louise and I know you'll get it done!

My goals are similar to yours. Work out 6X per week, lose weight, and keep it off... Don is my hero right now!

Maybe we should start a thread here to help each other stay on target with our goals?

Good goals everyone!

2015 was a bad year athletically for me (fortunately not due to my heart) so my general goal for 2016 is to turn that around. Specific goals are:

1) Lose 10 pounds

2) Return to racing

3) Hit 70 mpw

4) Run in a national championship race (masters track or road race depending on how long it takes me to get in shape)

5) Run a fall half marathon

I hope to be inhaling oxygen and exhaling CO2 through the year, and if I can get in a few good races, that's be gravy.

I'm on board with this goal. Laughing

Aside from that my main goals are:
1. To remain healthy and injury free.
2. Apply for Global Heroes again (I can dream right?)
3. Apply for Boston 2017 this fall.
4. Hopefully catch up with everyone again at the fall gathering.
