Beech Mountain 5K

Post by twal on Wed Jul 29, 2015 7:32 pm

I should know better than to run a race with the word "mountain" in the title.

The first 0.8 mi went up 200 ft and I was doing 9:24/mi. In that first climb (which actually had some flat stretches), I burned myself out so bad that I couldn't really take advantage of the downhills later on.

I did 26:18 and was 38th out of 70 and 3 out of 4 in the 60-69 age group.

During the race I was almost run over by two large deer who dashed across the road right behind me.

You run with some tough guys! I'll make a note to watch out for those deer.
