Triathlon - National Senior Games

Post by mikenall on Mon Jul 13, 2015 9:41 pm

I traveled up to St. Paul, Minnesota over the July 4th weekend to participate in the triathlon for the Senior Games. That is quite a group. There were several people over 80. Even though I'm "only" 64, triathlon age groups are based on your age on 12/31, so I competed with the 65-69 age group. I placed 19 out of 24 in my age group. I would have done better (7 out of 15) in the 60-64 group. Maybe the 65+ have more time to train.

We met up with Don Soule before the race (he ran the 5k portion of the race with me), and stopped by and had a visit with Rachel and Nate on the way home. Had a great time and can't wait to meet up with everyone in the fall.

Yeah Rachel, I saw that picture. Gary thinks I'm using a selfie stick.

Brave for being in that water? I went for a PM download yesterday. 2nd time in a row the conversation started with "So what were you doing on...". I apparently did a 500 meter swim, 15 mile bike, and 5k run in Afib over the Memorial weekend. More later.

Yikes! I didn't even realize that was possible. Couldn't have felt good. Do you use a HRM when you race?

Congrats, Mike!!

You do really well for an old guy with a screwy heart!!......even if we do think you are making up the age to get an advantage on the seniors. Very Happy

Cool that you got to meet up with some great folks.
