Susquehanna Warrior Trail 5k

Post by twal on Sat Apr 04, 2015 10:40 pm

I ran the Susquehanna Warrior Trail 5K. It is a flat, rails-to-trails course but was a little muddy. I came in 84th out of 245 overall and 1st out of 7 in the 60-64 age group. My time was 25:44 with GPS splits of 8:00, 8:10, 8:08.

I don't know what's wrong with my age group. I won my age group in all three races I've run so far this year. Last year I ran about the same time I did today and came in 4th in my age group. Two of the guys who beat me last year ran today but where injured. I guess all you need to do when you're this age is not be injured. Before you're to impressed with my finish, the winners from the 65-60 and 70+ both beat me.

The Susquehanna Warrior Trail is a great place to run or bike. There are a lot of other great places around here. If you are ever in Northeastern Pa, feel free to drop by for a run or ride. We have two extra bedrooms.

Well done 'mighty' warrior! Sounds like you had a great day. For the first time in my life, I don't bother about age-groups any more, as I find having been a decent runner when younger, my 'ego' makes me go quicker than my fitness. Ran a 2mile x-country yesterday, came 3rd last in 17min 55sec, very slow, but enjoyed it immensely.

Congratulations on a great run.  Your age group heard you were showing up so they said "Never mind, we can't beat Tom, he will take first." Smile I have a lot of work to do before October. tongue

Tom, you always amaze me with your race results! Thank you for your offer of a place to stay... Diane retires as of June 1 and we do plan on a lot more travel. We definitely will get down your way for a run and some play time too...

Fantastic race! You can't feel bad about a 25:44 and winning your age group! You are being way too modest.
