Yes on both. I walked two miles to warm up and see if my back would give me any problems. Ran three and did ok.

To be a slacker......

Post by LMRun on Mon May 11, 2015 3:02 pm

I've been a slacker the last week, allergy season and the antihistamines to manage them leave me tired.  The week before went well so I'm not too disappointed.  I will get back at it this week and see how it goes.

Word of the day: "slacker" and that's ok.  Very Happy

Stats for week of May 2
Lunges: 75
Pushups: 255
Weights: 340

Stats for week of May 9
Pushups: 90
Walk: 2.00 mile
Walk Time: 00:28:08
Weights: 360
Run: 3.00 mile
Run Time: 00:31:11

The word "Slacker" if used in reference to your efforts is clearly an improper use of the word IMO Louise!!

It's been an unusually bad year for pollen all over the country from what I've read and hopefully the rain you've been getting will help knock it down.

Re: Lil Tex's Shiny New Training Journal

Post by LMRun on Sun Jun 14, 2015 12:48 pm

It's too hot to run after work so I have to decide what mornings I will run and just start doing it.  I planned on running this morning, it was raining,  it will be a sauna the rest of the day.....I'm also applying a different approach to find my workout sweet spot, run on the off days with a 2 day rest.

My new approach is to go to the Y 3 x week (Tues/Thurs/Sat), weights, kettlebell, squats, core, and recumbent bike.  Today, a little tired and my legs are sore, haven't felt this in a long time, happy to have it back. I read the HIIT article that you all posted, going to incorporate some of that in my recumbent bike workouts. For now I'm on the bike 30 - 35 minutes, 5 minute cool down included, at resistance 7 and 4, giving me between 6 and 7 1/2 miles.  Not sure if I'm doing it right but 2 min warm up, then pedal as fast as I can for a full min, recover for 2, then repeat until done.  Towards the end that minute is a long one.  Smile

On to the stats:

Week ending June 5:

Exercise Bike: 13.25 mile
Exercise Bike Time: 01:05:00
Pushups: 25
Squat: 125
Weights: 400
Run: 2.25 mile
Run Time: 00:22:09

Week ending June 13:
Exercise Bike: 13.30 mile
Exercise Bike Time: 01:03:00
Squat: 150
Weights: 400
Run: 3.25 mile
Run Time: 00:32:07

Nice workouts Louise, you're hitting everything there... How is your shoulder doing now?

The shoulder is doing good, still likes to remind me once in awhile but I handled the 25 lb kettlebell for Kettlebell Squats with Upright Rows no problem. Good cardio workout with this one, I like it the best.  Muscle group(s) targeted: quadriceps, glutes, deltoids, shoulders, and core.  I think that's why my legs were sore, not the recumbernt bike workout.  tongue

Oh, the you tube video, that's not me.  Surprised  There was a member a while back who asked about kettle bell, you can find good workouts on you tube in case you'd like to try them.

Tropical Storm Bill rolled through Austin yesterday, the Y closed early so no workout.  It poured at lunch time, other than that it's been quiet here, rain in the forecast the rest of this week.

That's great Louise!!! I'll say it again - I can't even do those KB exercises and I DIDN'T have shoulder surgery!!!!

You're doing so great - keep it up!!!
