Weekend Results

Post by twal on Sun Mar 15, 2015 12:55 pm

Occasionally, when you have low expectations things work out pretty well.

Saturday I jumped into a fundraiser relay. It just so happened that the media appeared at the start of my leg. So, I got my picture in the paper and was interviewed for the evening news. I got more publicity for jogging 4 miles than I have for any races.

Then today, I thought I might as well get into a 5k race (my first since November) just to see where I was at. It turned out that none of the good runners in the 60+ age group showed up, so I won my age group. They gave out really nice fleece jackets as awards.

My time was 25:56 (8:12/mi) which is about what I expected. It was 35 F and windy. You can tell from my splits when I was running into the wind.

Mile 1 - 8:21
Mile 2 - 8:05
Mile 34 - 8:12
Last 0.17 - 7:36 (nice tail wind at the end)

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Mitral valve repair
Afib, arrhythmia
2 catheter ablations
