ok...throwin' it down on the 15.....i'm so easily baited.
Dave...ya gotta go with what ya know on that bet..I'd figure the line at 2 to 1 on the Bunny man (a horrible play on 90's bands and certainly no disrespect to a worthy competitor...but when yer trash talkin' well just about anything goes). Think we can get that Evans character in on this action????

Hey, I used to be an age-group champion there three decades ago, but now that they've taken out the hill at the turn-around, it just isn't the same race. Oh, wait a sec...it's ME that is no longer the same!!! I've got to think of something else.

How about I just give you my times from back then and let you two chase the average?

with each sweep of the radar...the upcoming 20 miler looms larger and larger....with recent untoward events...winter conditions, ribs and massive head cold (probably a flu thing...no I never got the shot) training has been way below 'par'...so a jaunt around the 'hood was despearately needed. Sure it was almost 50 out...with a west wind at 20...the route I chose was "front loaded" easy...the last 5 were a bear. First time I've had to walk in a training run in a looooonnnnggg while. Glad it's over and the weather looks good for the week..at least temp wise.

Sorry to hear you've been sick Marc... Been tough getting any kind of running in lately.

When in February is that 20 miler?

With a little luck you'll be over the Flu, plenty of miles in, and feeling strong!

15th...and yes i hope the calamitous portion of winter ..training and work wise...is over.

This is a kind of B-list run so I'm not too concerned with time...but I'd hate to have slog thru it...tho weather can be a tad finicky on the island this time of year...(could 50 or 20" of snow in a Nor'Easter).

30 , overcast, and a gentle SW zephyr would be ideal.

aight...that race is over....in under 3hr...which was pretty much the plan...the somewhat over hyped "blizzard" had just about everyone dancing on pins.
Got in before the sticky wet stuff put up a traction challenge.

Of note was the AG winner (59...same as me)....in at a 7:23 per pace...there's a runner!

Other than Cinci and GR I've made no plans for this year.

I'm more interested in quality training...establishing a solid base rather than targeting races. A new strategy as it were.

I'm pretty sure I'll end up with a full plate...I like racing too much.

Me too Dave...that's why we scooted home directly after the race.....If I'm going to be storm bound...I prefer my own shack.

post 20..pre 15K...old man winter just won't give in..looks to be a participation run at Cinci..at best there'll be some base building miles between then and now.

If this stuff keeps up I may move to 'the thumb' just so I don't get my hopes up like I did this weekend. (48F with a hint of SWly breeze...ahhh just the way I like it).

Tweaked an ankle in MV...hopefully stretching will alleiviate that grumble.

Current target time for the Heart Mini is 75 minutes...sorry Brian..doesn't look like I'll be ready to give ya a go.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Marc. Perhaps we could do some sort of "tag team" to give Brian a run for his money?

Now we're talkin'....4.5 at sub 7 just might be doable...but I'll need a ride back to the hotel cause I won't be walkin' anywhere for a while.

Next! Cinci was a good time (yes that would be double entendre).

Thanks to everyone especially the Nashes.

Could've used a 'rabbit' bout mile 4 but the G-man left me hangin. As usual.
( Luv ya Gary...but I just can't resist).

You do understand, Big Guy, that I had other priorities on Sunday. Since you and my little lady were in different races, I could only choose only one to assist (and her willingness to put up with me for all these years gives her the advantage).

The fact that she won her age-group should attest to my skills though. That should put a little shiver in your bravado.

Indeed, kudo's to the the little lady.

However, with or with out yer ...ummm...assistance , I do believe she might have done as well as she did, perhaps even better.

I was willing to take that burden on..a brief respite for her after allllllll these years...but she was graciousness exemplar (as usual) and declined.

Slightly off topic...if there is one...Two years today (seems like much longer) they had me split and worked their magic.

For stupid resons I did not celebrate with a run...gluteous max is whining of late..killer today.

I did some 'counseling' with a friend who had a MI last w/e...while I was cleaning up the wood pile and raking the detritus that is my yard...truly a glorious day. I thought the best counsel was to be a 'good example' by taking care of things that needed taking care of..and sharing the fears and depressive thoughts I had when I had my 'intervention'.

Hopefully by October he'll be ready to roll into GR...giving South Coastal RI a massive two person showing.

Hi All.
Just back from 4 weeks off with bad back! Ran 2 races last weekend - 2kmX in 11min. 10 mins later 3km x in 16min 56 sec. My friends want me to enter a 25km mountain run in 2 months!! The first 10km very undulating, the next 15km flat to downhill!
My head says no way -  but my heart... I will start my 'slow' distance training today, and see how the weeks go. Wanted to start new topic - couldn't see how?
See Ya
Brian

Hi Dave
Thanks for kind words and info. I still have pain in my back, but able to train and 'gently' race!
Wore heart monitor yesterday for run, either something is wrong with watch, or arrhythmia beats again!
See Ya Pal
