Cincinnati Heart Mini Marathon

Post by mikenall on Sun Jan 18, 2015 10:16 pm

We're going to the Cincinnati Heart Mini Marathon March 15th. If anyone else is planning or thinking of going I'll start a team. For anyone who has never attended, it is very friendly to heart patient runners. The distances are 1/2 marathon, 15k, 5k and a walk. They have separate divisions (red cap) for participants with heart issues, and a reception following the races for the red cap participants and certain donors.

Since Linda won her age-group in the 1/2, I'm sure she will want to attend...but I have to wait to see my work schedule for that weekend.

We really liked the Heart Mini last year but won't be able to go this year.

I am a low probability for this year. With less than two months to go, my current running regimen has me nowhere near ready.

Sounds like fun. I am interested in running the half. Will everyone be on their own for lodging?
Thx,

can you keep a secret?

Post by Gary E on Fri Jan 23, 2015 11:55 pm

If I'm able to stay overnight beforehand (depends on my work schedule, because the state high school tournaments may keep me in Columbus), I may sneak into Brian's back yard and set up my tent. I've stayed indoors at his place several other years for this race, but I think I either snored too loudly or I left the toilet seat up, because he and Martha are going to be out of town this year (see his race schedule elsewhere on this forum). Please don't let him know of this plan or else he will leave two really large dogs out waiting for my arrival.

Don't worry Gary, I've heard he's taking the dogs with him.

I'm going to go ahead and start a team. If anyone signs up that's great. If not that's OK too. I'll check with the Hilton, as they've offered special rates for this for at least the last 5 years. If anyone knows of anyone else who might be interested they can contact me. I've run this one for about 8-9 years in a row now. I like what it represents, and the red cap division for heart patients.

Hey Guys. I am sorry I am not going to be here the weekend of the Heart. I signed up for Asheville before I remembered that they had moved the Heart a few years ago to St Patrick's weekend. If something happens and I am not able to make the trip to Asheville, I will be sure to let you all know.

The Hilton Netherland downtown is offering their traditional $99.00 Heart Mini rate for the weekend. I just booked Fri./Sat. 3/13 & 3/14. The race start is just minutes from the hotel, and the reception for the red cap participants last year was accessible without going outside.

I started the team today for the Cincy Heart . If you're planning on going you can find and join the team under H.E.A.R.T.
