No Running - my new weight loss plan!!!!

So I’ve not been able to run for the entire month of December due to some PF issues…..then exactly one week ago I fell on my knee - so not being able to do much of anything (I certainly can’t run now)

I’ve lost FOUR pounds this past week!!!

Picture of said knee - taken a few days ago


I kind of like it….I’m thinking I’ll make this my new habit!

This will force you to rest so that maybe your PF will have a chance to heal properly.

YES!!!! That's what I've been thinking - there must have been an angel standing guard over me - who then knocked me down to save my foot!!!

I seriously believe this - because as you know Tom (from the logarun site) - I'm one stubborn and more often than not - not so smart runner!

So I'm taking this as part of my weight loss plan (although I didn't previously have one) - and saying my blessings to that angel!!!!

YIKES!!! That has to be really sore Rachel! Sorry to see that but the down time might be just what you need for the PF... Now how in heck do you manage to lose weight at a reduced activity level???  scratch

I'm heading to the stairs right now, just so I can try that method of weight-loss. Nothing else seems to work for me.

In the meantime, I hope you recover from the bruising, that there is no damage internally, and that you get rid of the PF.

Hi Rachel
Sad to hear about your knee problem and plantar F. What treatment are you using for the PF? There are many good running sites, which give good help.
People always say "Do as Haggis says, but not as he does"!
If that photo off you is up to date, you don't need to loose weight!

Yikes, hope you heal up soon. I would have the opposite effect, I would gain 3 lbs in a week if I could not run.

Thanks everyone for your comments and support! Yes - I've lost weight during my down time because I'm eating a whole lot less....I feel that I just don't need the energy.

Which makes me wonder if maybe I'm eating way too much when I am active....you know the whole "hey, I can eat that piece of cake because I'm going to run it off tomorrow" mantra that goes on inside my head.

Anyway the knee is much better although it still looks pretty awful....I've also got a great support group of runner friends here in town who've seen it and have given me their advice based on some of their experiences....and yes some of them also lose weight in the down-time.

Re the weight loss, it's not an unexpected phenom. There are a few pounds of water associated with liver and muscle glycogen, so if you're not topping off your tank, you'll drop water weight. A spaghetti dinner brings it all back.
