Journey's Marathon

Post by echoguy on Sun Apr 28, 2013 6:49 pm

I am signed up to run Journey's Marathon on May 11.

When I signed up for this race, I was comfortably qualified for Boston 2014. Now with the events of the past few weeks, I am sure that interest in Boston for next year will go way up, and my qualification only 1:15 under my time may not be fast enough to get me in.

Soooooo. I have run two marathons over the past three weeks. Ran both of them pretty hard, but not all out as I was pacing a friend.

I am considering running hard and seeing of I can get that qualification time more than 5 minutes under the time. Chances of a major bonk loom. affraid

That's why I put it out here Mike. Wanted to see how stupid it sounded when I actually put it in words. I will see how things go over the next two weeks and really watch my HR early in the race. I knew at mile 3 in Carmel that it would not be the day. Hopefully I will be honest with myself up there and back way off early if there is any sign of trouble.

I admire you Brian, you're having a great year and it looks like you're on track to sustain it... If you're going to go all out for a BQ wouldn't it make sense to give yourself several easy weeks first? I know you've got it in you but how much more would there be in the bank if you are optimally rested?
