Best Wishes To Our Global Heroes!!

Post by Dave Tuttle on Tue Sep 30, 2014 7:57 pm

I want to wish Rachel and Brad a wonderful experience and a great race as they are honored as Global Heroes at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis this weekend... Both of you  have turned something that would cripple the spirit of most people into the most positive of outcomes and in doing so you have inspired countless others. You are indeed heroes... Have a great weekend!

Thanks everyone!

People who’ve been Global Heroes in the past (Brian, Russ, Tom, Mike, Don) have all inspired me, especially right after my surgery. Their stories gave me hope (I stumbled onto the GH site WAAAY before I knew about any other heart-related online support groups/forums)

It truly is an honor to be recognized as a GH - and for me, a way to give back……because one of my deepest wishes is that someday someone who has my condition might stumble upon my story the way I found the stories of so many others…..and hopefully that person feels the way I felt and will have the hope and desire necessary to turn a heart condition into a blessing.

Of course my story doesn’t stop at the GH website….not by a long shot. As most of you know in the course of my recovery/rehabilitation I went through a rough patch of doubt and second-guessing and almost quit running. If it wasn’t for the support of this group especially of Marc Thayer specifically, I wouldn’t have gotten to live my life in the way that fulfills me the most.

That is why I have a mixture of emotions surrounding this issue. There are so many of us who deserve this recognition – I don’t know how to remedy that….. all I can do is take each of you with me in my heart, knowing as I do that we all move forward the best we can and that makes us an amazing group of people!
