Harvey's Lake Run

Post by twal on Sat Sep 27, 2014 9:29 pm

This was an 8.2 mile race around a local lake. No excuses today. It was flat, cool, dry, with now wind. I did 68:07 (8:20/mi) and got 1st out of 4 in the 60+ age group (34 out of 100 overall).
Mile Splits
8:15
8:21
8:28
8:23
8:25
8:26
8:15
8:11
7:37 for final 0.2 kick

I'm in good shape, ran hard in perfect conditions but I was still 30 sec slower than last year. There is no winning against old age.

Now back to the 5 and 10K's until Harrisburg.

Judging by the times you've been running in the heat, you would have beaten me if we were racing.

Great race Tom!! An AG win plus a very respectable showing overall... You, Rachel, Marc, and John are going to make our Harrisburg "Fast Team" entry an exciting team to follow on race day.

Interestingly the WMA tables say you should slow down by exactly 30 seconds each year over an 8 mile distance. That is just the price we pay for getting older!

Nice race! Those were some amazingly consistent split times!
