Mental thoughts hindering running!

Post by haggis basher on Mon Sep 08, 2014 3:37 am

Hi All
I have had pneumonia and severe sinus infection for 2 months now! Must admit, I have struggled since my AVR. (2011) I used to get quite excited about going for a run, but now dread going out the door! Can't stop my mind from saying 'I am tired;' Sometimes I only run a few 100m's and have to stop.
I know that age comes into it, but not like this! I really miss my running, as it helps me to cope with life and its wee problems. Still got bad 'mucus' in lungs, and being end of winter, can't keep warm.
Sorry about whinge, but getting desperate!
Brian

Sorry to hear you're still trying to shake off that pneumonia Brian. I had it once and it hung on for a very long time. What does your Doctor say?... Hopefully as your weather improves with spring you'll feel better and get back to your running. Don't let it get you down, its temporary!!

Just a wee update.Started running again! Been doing fastish kneelifts - not moving too far forward, then striding out for 20-30m. Walked/jogged between each.Kept it up for 45mins.Trying to get my mental attitude back.
I have that mountain half marathon race (uphill) to 4000ft in November (walking), so I will need to progress slowly.
See Yaas
Brian

Do I have to drive to Sydney and give you a kick in the arse Haggis, old mate?

You know it will pass. It surely will.

Cheers,

Craig

Hi Craig
Glad to hear from you.Don't know what is wrong! Ever since my AVR, My ability to run long distance (even snails pace!) has ceased! I can 'sprint' like the wind, but...
Are you moving to USA for good, or just work?
See Ya
Brian

In that case, do what you do best Brian - run like the wind!

Probably a couple of years in the US, then indefinitely in France. But we'll see how things work out ... you never know which way life will twist and turn, eh?

Cheers,

Craig
