JOY – JOY – JOY!!!!

Post by Rachel August on Sun Sep 07, 2014 2:39 pm

Temps in the 50’s this morning – so I ran 12!!!

Yesterday I volunteered at a new event called the Holland/Haven Marathon – a VERY scenic and beautiful route on Lakeshore drive from Holland to Grand Haven. I served as a course marshal stationed about 5 miles north of my house – so as I stood there cheering on the runners and occasionally stopping a car or two - I promised myself I’d be running through that area today.

It was BETTER than I expected!

For me it doesn’t get any better than running outside, alone in the quiet cool morning – just me and the sound of my feet. I know that I’ll enjoy running in Detroit, but mostly because I’m looking forward to meeting some amazing women……most of my joyful moments happen on mornings like today – all alone – truly an amazing experience!

The ups and downs of running,..figuratively and literally .... have always been a source of bemusement.

Much like any course you happen to be running...take what it gives...the joy and unjoy.

Good luck in the MC.

It is amazing how much of an impact a change in weather can have on our running attitude.
