A few friends and I went backpacking in the Red River Gorge the past few days. Good training for Jungfrau!!

First shot is of Gray's Arch from underneath. Second is at the top of Chimney Rock.

Now two weeks until the big day. No injuries. Feeling healthy with just a few extra pounds. I've put several miles on the treadmill this summer speedwalking at 9% grade. It does not look quite like the real thing!!

Where?!  Maybe you needed them!  Less than 2 weeks to go, how exciting.  I checked out the race page and found the link to a photo stream:

and the really cool video:

Looks like a lifetime experience!  You picked a great one for #100.  Stay "fat" Rolling Eyes and healthy -- hope you have great race conditions and great day!

Are you planning to use the Diamox for the Jungfrau?

Here's the little bits of treadmill (and bits of the soles of my shoes) that is accumulating at the back of the treadmill. Also lots of sweat on the rails. Putting in the uphill miles!

Brian may be on his way but here's to a great trip and a great marathon Brian! Are you going to do the hike to the highest peak afterwards? We'll want to see those pics!

If the weather forecast holds, it looks like Brian will be running a partly cloudy race between a rainy day on Friday and a rainy day on Sunday. Let's hope he has favorable weather to enjoy the spectacular scenery!

Thanks guys. We have made it to Switzerland and here is the view from our room.

I will be adding photos during our trip to a flickr album and will update it fairly regularly. Right now it is just a placeholder photo. Will try to add some new ones Friday evening. But we are out seeing stuff most of the day today.

Thanks everybody!! My Flickr account is giving me trouble and I may not be able to post more photos to that account. Here's a shot of us on a short and flat hike after the race near Klein Scheidegg where we finished. I left some out on the course, but had a great time and learned something about Swiss mountain runners...I finished 88th.....in my age group!!
