One Fund Boston

Post by echoguy on Thu Apr 25, 2013 6:45 am

Please realize that it is only among friends that I ask this, but....how much money does One Fund Boston need?

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino have announced the formation of The One Fund Boston, Inc. to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013.

I am thinking that the people most affected by the tragic events is about 200 and their families. Also some businesses had significant structural damage.
Should the entire city of Boston be included in the "most affected" bunch? The State of Mass?

Anyway, they are at 23 million currently and continuing to climb. I am sure that this money will be put to good use.

But....at what point do they reach "enough" to "help the people most affected"?

Any ideas of a fair way to deal with whatever is extra?

Not sure that they have set a limit.

I am sure people will come out of the woodwork to say that they were affected emotionally by this tragedy....even they only got close via their TV.
And their lawyers will be right beside them.

I do hope they screen the candidates well, since there were so many who will really need it.

As far as how much is enough to cover those where were severely injured....that cost could be huge. Those who lost limbs will need money coming in for their lifetime to replace a prosthesis or for rehab.

So I am not sure at what point they decide how much is enough.

Thanks Bill. I do like the way they have that set up. Also appreciate that the money will be going directly to those affected. It is going to be a very difficult job making the financial decisions, but it certainly looks like they know what they are doing.
