HARRISBURG RELAY TEAMS

Post by Dave Tuttle on Tue Jun 17, 2014 5:48 pm

We've already had several requests for information about joining a relay team for our Harrisburg gathering this November and we thought this would be a good place to form and coordinate the teams.

If you're interested in being on a relay team please respond here and tell us if you want to be on a team trying for the best possible time or a "for the fun of it" team... We'll try to match everyone up by their preferences and we will make sure each team is registered in time.

We'll need Captains for each team too. The Captain sets the team up, pays the registration fee, and collects the entry fee from team members plus helps with coordinating team travel logistics to the exchange points... Please consider volunteering to be a team Captain. It's not hard and we'll help.

So who wants to be on a relay team?

Me - oh pick me!!!!

I really enjoy the relay experience and don't care which type of team I'm on (for fun or for wins)

I'm also willing to be a captain again if needed.

I made my hotel reservation. We're coming.

I see there is a master's division in the relay so if we want to put in a team for racing, that would be my preference.

Looking forward to seeing you folks.

Dave, I am in for the relay.  I know Pat and his wife are coming also, so we can be three legs of a team, I can captain if you'd like.

This is a great start! Tom Price's team is almost full already... From past experience we should be able to field a very competitive Master's team with twal the first member on that team and Rachel's team is TBD but I'm betting it will be pretty fast too. I think we'll end up with at least 4 or 5 teams... I know Mike will Captain a team too and I'll fill in where ever needed but don't expect anything like speed out of me.

I'll get an e mail out to all our past participants soon and ask them to check in here if they want to be on a relay team...

I'm not running any full's this year....for a variety of boring reasons. So I'm good for a relay team..and have no problem doing multiple legs when team selection numbers get all wacky..as they usually do.

Great Marc! I think we're going to have a very fast masters team this year!!

I wonder if we could get away with having you run on 2 different teams?  Twisted Evil

I think we can be strongest in the Mixed Masters Relay. A good mixed team could be Marc, Rachel, Louise and possibly me although if Brian wants to run, he can bump me off.

Thanks for the MMR suggestion Tom.  We won't be able to go to Harrisburg this year, we committed to Bourbon Chase in October.  We had hail damage to our roof in April, our 1% deductible will scratch any extra funds for a trip to Harrisburg.  Going to miss seeing you all, but we can certainly plan for Grand Rapids next year.  Sad

I'd also like to suggest for next year Pittsburgh Marathon May 1 -3, 2015.  There's something for all family members, this is our home stomping ground!

I just sent an e mail out to everyone on our HEART mailing list about joining a relay team... Asked them to let us know here on this thread if they want to get on a team.

All are welcome to run with us even if you're not on our mailing list and let us know if you would like e mail updates too.

I want to be on a relay team too! This is my first time in the forum so I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly. Our son Matthew may also be interested in being on a realy team. Pam Bonner

Hi Philip and Pam. We're looking forward to seeing you again. It would be great if Matthew runs too... Would you all like to be on the same team? A family team would be pretty cool and one runner could take 2 legs if you wanted.

I just heard back from the Harrisburg Marathon Race Director with answers to a couple of questions that came up...

A Mixed relay team needs only one member of the opposite gender of the majority on the team.

Runners may choose run more than one relay leg but the team will not be eligible for any awards.

Hi John, welcome to the forum... Glad you're running with us in Harrisburg and we'll save you a spot on a team. We'll formalize them soon. Do you have a preference for a faster team or a fun team?

Very Cool! We'll have no trouble finding a 4th member for "Team Bonner"...

Sorry you can't make Harrisburg Kevin... We'll miss you!  I also heard about a marathon near Cleveland that will adding a relay next year. It runs along the lake right through Mike's town

Our Harrisburg relay teams are really shaping up. I'm pretty sure we have enough runners for 4 teams now... Here is what we have so far and please let me know if I've made any mistakes.

Tom Price's team includes Richard G, Pat P and
Micky P... All Syracuse area friends!

Team Bonner is Philip, Pam, and Matthew Bonner and me.

Mike's Team will include Craig W. (we think he is running on a team). Patty J, and an as yet to be determined 4th runner depending on who ends up on our fast Mixed Masters team.

The fast team candidates are Rachel, Marc, Tom W. John J, and John P... Again, I might have this wrong but I think this is what everyone asked for so we just need to decide who wants be on this team and who will join Mike's team. Any preferences or thoughts here?

If it helps everyone out and you need me to run with Mike’s team I’m up for that – let me know.
