Big House 5k

Post by Oldteen on Mon Apr 07, 2014 6:53 pm

Ran this inaugural charity event yesterday in Ann Arbor, MI. (Yes, THAT "Big House".) Almost 4k participated in this run around UMich athletic complex & main campus. VERY cool finish running up the team tunnel, on the field, & under the Go Blue banner at the 50 yd line. Runners' were shown on the end zone big screen as they crossed the line. I posted a PB (sub-23min), which was good for AG 2nd place. (But only 'cause the old fast guys from Ann Arbor Track Club didn't show up  Laughing ).

Love your result...despise the venue.

Congratulations are in order for the PB, but personally, I vowed to never set foot in that stadium again after I witnessed the end of our twenty-two game winning streak there in '69. It was the final game of that season for the Buckeyes after our National Championship the previous season, and a bunch of us drove up there boastfully wearing our letter jackets...only to leave with our heads down and hearts shattered. I'm convinced that was the beginning of my eventual heart condition!!!

No hard feelings toward you though! It's always fabulous to set a PB.

Just thinking of runnung into the Big House brings tears to my eyes. This has been added to my bucket list. There is a decent contingent in the area and I am willing to travel. How about a mini event in 2015? We know who wont be there.
Good job on the PB. I will take 2nd anytime.
