Gazelle Girl Half

Post by Rachel August on Wed Apr 02, 2014 3:16 pm

Okay everyone – this is the race that I was going to run last year before my cardiologist talked me out of it.

Update --- I’ve seen her a couple times recently at various Go Red for Women events and her tone as changed – now she doesn’t mind that I run the half……go figure.

Anyway – MY HALF IS COMING UP!!!!

April 13

So far, so good – my training isn’t anything near what I thought it would be due to this winter being so…..well such a royal freakin’ pain in the back-side you know? BUT – I feel that I can run it (maybe not well) but let’s just say that I’m not nervous.

My knee is better, my mind is better, and I’ve got all of you in my corner – so I’m looking forward to this one!

I was just looking back today at some races I did a year ago (on logarun) and I saw a few comments related to your race decision last year and wondered if you would be doing it.  Glad to hear its a "go" this year -  You'll do great  Very Happy   TGFTM (Thank God for the Tread Mill) at least this neverending winter - (They're predicting another 7-12 inches here on Friday Sad )

I remember how torn you were last year with the conflicting recommendations you were given on what you should or shouldn't limit yourself to. As you logged more and more miles over the past year you steadily regained your running confidence and seeing that has been a great experience for the rest of us... You did it right, you were careful about it and you took all the time you needed and stayed safe... Maybe your Cardiologist needed some time too. It's great she's OK with it now and I'm happy for you.

No need to run this one fast Rachel, you've already won it.

You are correct about the last part, as I've now got that date circled (in Spartan Green no less) on my calendar...but I think one of your other two statements in that sentence is a bit questionable (and I know your knee must be better based on your Cincy performance).

For some reason there appears to be two threads with the same title??? Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I was able to enlarge the photo of your finish (I know, everyone else takes such things in stride, but I'm not usually that adept with technology)...and I think you look too fresh to have run that far!!!!

That's EXACTLY what my husband said!!! I think that's my problem.....I'm on "cruise-time" not on "race-time"
