Put your RED dress on and Go Red for Women!!!

Post by Rachel August on Fri Jan 31, 2014 1:31 pm

Hi everyone – just wanted to let you know that I’ve been selected as the “survivor” by the American Heart Association – Grand Rapids Division! This means that I will be speaking at The B.O.B in downtown GR next Friday at the Fashion Passion Party to raise money for AHA.

I am also the guest speaker at the AHA GR division luncheon later on this month!

Got my RED dress….all I need are some shoes (I HATE shopping) so I’ve been procrastinating on this one!

GO RED BABY!!!

You are the best representative that I can think of to represent us.  How exciting.  Let's see a pic as you know "this thread is worthless without pics".  I will be wearing something red every Friday during the month of February.  Hmmm, where can I find some red bloomers........folks won't even know.  LOL  lol!

I have my annual cardio appointment Feb 17th, can't wait to tell him that I am running the AHA HEART mini in Cincy in March!  Everything is all set, plane tickets, car, hotel, friends meeting up in Cincy....can't get any better than this!!

That's fantastic Rachel... From the video I saw you're an excellent speaker and a great success story to help promote the AHA cause. We're proud of you!!

So, since you hate shopping why not wear those PINK RUNNING SHOES you've been saving for special occasions?

Way to go Rachel. I've actually been invited to the Go Red for Women luncheon in Cleveland for about the last 5 years. I went every year but last year and will be going Feb. 21st. There are about 1000 women and about 10 men but I usually connect with a doctor or two. I suspect I'll see my new electrophysiologist there this year. She's a big supporter of Go Red.

Good for you Rachel. It's so cool to be a speaker for a cause that's important to you.
Locally we have few events but on Feb 22, the first Health Awareness Walk and Fair. Should be good. I'm going to try to get my cardiologist (he's going to be on a panel discussion group later in the day) a part time runner to see if we cannot do something on a more regular basis. I only know one other runner here and he happens to be one of my best running friends who runs with a heart condition. Five way emergency bypass in 2006. Funny thing, he doesn't want people to know about it and I'm not sure why except he is a Podiatrist, but that would seem odd.
