Carmel Marathon

Post by echoguy on Thu Apr 18, 2013 7:53 am

Saturday April 20 we are scheduled to run the Carmel Marathon. I am running with a buddy who is trying to qualify for Boston 2014. I have qualified, but now my time that is 1:15 under the qualifying standard may not be fast enough depending upon how they handle things in the wake of this years events.

Carmel was intended to be our "back up" marathon that we planned to jog with a friend and race only if we had bad weather in Xenia two weeks ago. Due to a lapse in judgment on my part, we ran Xenia hard only to be buffeted by a 15-20 mph headwind in the last 10 miles so did not get him in. Now we will be racing hard again 13 days after a full effort. Not ideal.

My buddy is not injured in any way. I developed a deep blister on my foot that just never went away and now I am pretty sure that it is associated with a bone bruise on the foot. So not a stress fracture.....yet. So I will be running with the plan that if the pain increases in the foot significantly that I will step off. same for chest pain. Pain anywhere else....run through.

I'll let you know how it goes!!!

Good Luck Brian! You're having a really impressive year. How many marathons do you have planned for 2013?
