I have a schedule!

Post by Rachel August on Mon Dec 30, 2013 2:01 pm

Posting here so I stick with the program – I’m planning on 3 halfs for 2014 plus some 15K’s, 10K’s, and 5K’s mixed in with some fun runs for the winter….. Oh who am I kidding – they're all fun!!!!

January 1 – Hair of the Dog – Saugatuck – 5K freezing cold “run” (I’m just going to see friends)
January 26 – Frostbite Marathon Relay – Holland/Saugatuck – 5-6 mile fun run (they put me on the shortest leg - cuz I is the slowest....but nobody really cares, least of all me)   Very Happy
February 8 – Snow Melt Shuffle – Holland – 5K
March 13 – St. Patty’s Day Pacer – Holland – 5K
March 16 – Heart Mini – Cincinnati – 15K
April 13 – Gazelle Girl – Grand Rapids – Half
May 10 – Riverbank – Grand Rapids – 10K & 5K combo
May 24 – Bayshore – Traverse City – 10K
June 23 – Midnight Sun Run – Iceland – Half
September 27 – Park 2 Park – Holland - Half
October 19 – GR Relay – Grand Rapids - 10K

Thinking of a few more…..who knows maybe a few less depending on what happens……and you know anything can happen!!!

Wow! That IS a nice schedule Rachel, especially with all the cold weather races.

Tell us about the half in Iceland... That sounds so interesting.

Yes - ICELAND!!!

I was serious when I mentioned it in Syracuse (remember how I complained about having to pay that extra .15 cents for the toll road we had to take to get to our after-party in Syracuse)??? LOL

Coach T put the idea into my head….it’s going to be a great trip!!! Race starts around 9:00pm and I hope to be finished and soaking in some sort of hot springs before Midnight! We’re also going to tour the island but the details have not yet been arranged…….but we did book our flight so we’re as good as there!

I’ll keep you posted as time goes on!

If anyone is interested in joining us let me know…..it’s not that hard to reserve stuff – there’s plenty to do on the island – most people there speak English – they drive on the right side of the road – going to be a great temperature for running!!!

"Schedule?" Could be a bucket list for a normal heart patient. Should be a great year!

Coach T....really...

Both Ms R and I had meant to be a tad more aggressive in our marketing of this event....Details were somewhat sketchy at the Fall Meet Up so all we had was concepts...(thinking we should have got Hugh on that band wagon).
We almost got Russ to commit....but a half is a mite short for him and his schedule was contra to the date.
We have been trying to get Russ over 'the pond' and thought a half way event would get that started.

The more we looked at this event...the more attractive it became, Russ or no Russ...I've always wanted to visit Iceland...(islander mentality..live on Rhode Island...Marth's Vineyard 20 Miler booked...and yes Brian, I'm still miffed you didn't let me know you were in the area..I'll extract my vengence in Cinci).

The event in Reykavik should be a blast..and a touch of amazement is anticipated.
