Local Annual Turkey Trot

Post by kodi30 on Sat Nov 16, 2013 4:36 pm

First in the 70-79 age group...but the only one. Smile The advantages of getting old and to keep running. Not real happy with my time but this aggravating crap I have going on in my lungs certainly didn't help. Time was 42:15. My 5K PR is on this course set in 1994 at the age of 56 is 20:11. Big difference what an artificial valve, a pacemaker and age can do. Smile
Nice thing about the local race in a small community almost everyone knows everyone, if only in passing. Lots of cheering from my friends at the end. Smile

I'll be running one on Thanksgiving day, the 50th annual TT in Cohoes, NY. I've been doing it for 7 or 8 years. For the longest time I never ran at all on T-day, but my kids were all grown and I found I could finally spare a couple hours early in the AM.

When I reached 60 I was able to place in the top 3 for a few years, but all those younger baby boomers coming up behind me were getting faster and faster. I'll be lucky to get above 10th now. Our local races have fairly large contingents of older runners. With about 500 entrants we'll see about ten 60-69 and maybe 3-4 70+

An AG win counts no matter how many ran Mel... There just wasn't anyone your age as tough as you are!! AND you ran it while you weren't feeling well. That's double tough.
