Pacemaker checkup

Post by kodi30 on Sat Oct 12, 2013 7:11 pm

Interesting week, Monday normal followup with the cardiologist. Discussed my shortness of breath both walking & running especially when I go uphill. He suggested a ultrasound and angiogram. Thursday was the ultrasound and Monday is the angiogram. Thursday was also my appointment with the Boston Scientific guy on the pm. He is an alternate of the one I usually see. We talked about the shortness of breath stuff too. My EEG or is it EKG shows a PVC which has been with me forever. He suggested upping the low end of the PM to 70. Originally was 60 then changed it to 50 and there was no noticeable difference. He also tweeked a couple other settings. Today I went for an 8 miler and starting from my house is uphill. It's about the first time I didn't notice the shortness of breath and my first mile, all uphill, was the fastest I've run it in a long time. I'm hoping this wasn't just a phenomenon based on hope but something that is going to make a difference. The rest of my 8 miler was good. Except from mile 4 to 5, which had a couple steep rollers in it, the rest was mostly downhill. I love downhill.

I thinking that no matter what...shortness of breath abated? This is good news.

Have to get you signed up for Boston..it is mostly downhill.

Thanks Marc but there is no way I can qualify for Boston anymore. My BQ time is 4:40 and I can't even get close to 5:30 anymore. I've run Boston and I'd hardly call it downhill. However, my favorite, St. George is mostly down some very scenic hills.

Good luck with the angiogram tomorrow Mel... I hope the PM tweak was all you needed and the angio is "All Clear"

Good news; arteries are clean.  No blockages and valve is working the way it should.  Smile  Happy camper...runner!

Thanks guys & gals. Hopefully without the shortness of breath the runs will be more enjoyable and with the weather cooling even better.
