Park2Park Half

Post by Rachel August on Sat Sep 28, 2013 1:53 pm

Had a really great time running in my local half this morning! BEAUTIFUL day for it too! This one was tough though…… I seriously did not train for it – the last time I ran this far was 9/2010 and that was the last time I ran Park2Park (4 months later I found out that I had a ticking time bomb in my chest….)

So….I did okay – I could have done better if my legs held out – but I could tell there was a HUGE difference in my energy levels from 2010 to now! It is pretty amazing how much better I feel when I run – guess that surgery was needed! LOL

I pretty much held a 9:30 pace for the first 8 miles – then the wheels fell off – oh and yes – there were also “hills”……and so I dropped down to about a 10 min pace – too bad too – my friend (pictured below) was a pacer for the 9:30..….he still encouraged me when we looped through one of the parks….

Going to rub my aching feet/legs now….but I’m still smiling!!!

(Oh - BTW in this picture I'm not going the wrong way - seriously - it's a loop down to the beach and back)

Great job Rachel!!! BTW...a 30 sec slowdown does not in any way qualify for the "wheels falling off" Run with me sometime and I will show you some epic cases of the wheels falling off. Again, welcome back to competitive running. I am really looking forward to following your progress...

Nice race Rachel!! You did great and you smashed another barrier! Two weeks in a row... WOW!

Great pictures and I especially like your new avatar... Passing those three guys walking the hill and looking like it's easy!

Congrats. I would be ecstatic if I could just run at the pace where your wheels come off.

Nice Pic!  Congrats on a great race!  Rest up now for Syracuse so you can PR from this one!  Stretch those IT bands.

The whole CA gang should be taking a lot of pics in Syracuse!  We'll have to have someone upload an album.  I still have not figured out how to load pics other than my avatar.

A terrific run! Congratulaions! It looks like it must have been a scenic course with great weather. So glad to hear that your post-surg rumming is coming along so well.
