heart condition / treatment in signature?

Post by RoadKillBill on Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:41 am

Some members have put their heart condition/history in their signatures (I have recently added mine). I certainly appreciate and respect that some members may prefer not to flaunt that info. But for those who don't mind, it could be helpful for new members to know that there are others with similar conditions who are running, etc., thereby providing reassurance or perhaps a POC for questions.

I think it will show up the next time you log on Trish... Seems to need to go through the log out process to be saved?

Odd - I can see some members' signatures whether I am logged in or not - others, such as Kevin and Don, only appear if I am logged in. Under the user profile there a "preferences" tab, and an "always show my signature" Y/N option. I wonder if that has something to do with it. No indication of what circumstances your signature does/doesn't appear if you choose N.

Notice the same thing. However I checked under my preferences tab and already always show my signature as Y.

I went and checked both logged on and off. Only the Moderators/Admin show the signature to all. The rest will only have it showing to those who are logged on.

Also, it will only show up on posts you made since you added the signature.    It will not be added to those you made pre-signature.

I did have to check Y to always show my signature in order for it to show, which is why it did not come up with my previous post.

I'll take a look in the admin pages for a way to make it the same for everyone unless you all would prefer to only have it visible to members. What do you think?

Thanks for figuring out what was going on.

Hi Dave

There is a configuration switch that controls this:

General>Messages and e-mails>Configuration>Display to guests, signatures from :
1) All?
2) Administrators and moderators?
3) No?

I support flicking the switch on option #1 so that non-member visitors can see the types of conditions represented in the community.
