LogARun seems to have been hacked. Some ad crap hijacks your attempt to login several times before letting you in if at all.

I haven't experience that, although I did notice someone using a famous name has run 610074739493.0 miles this year.  Torry (the founder of the site) usually takes such obvious errors off in a few days.  If he doesn't do so in a couple more days I will write him to let him know.  He does have a full-time job and this is just something that he developed seven or eight years ago.  He has never begged for any donations, although there is a link to some merchandise (tee shirts, etc) that I did notice once while investigating all the bells and whistles that the site provides.

The page hijacker was there last night, then for a short time in the early morning. It was gone by 7 or 8 AM.

Re: LogARun Leaderboard

A friend of mine swam 10,000 meters today.  It was an indoor distance competition and four of those present swam that distance. They were not allowed fins, but could use kick boards and exit the pool for nourishment whenever they wanted.

I've had a couple of open-water swims of that distance, but that was so many years ago that I've forgotten how demanding such a feat can be.  I am constantly reminded of one such instance though.  My brother and his son were were my support crew up in Minnesota, and somewhere in the middle of this huge lake, I grabbed onto the gunnels to ingest my energy gel, not realizing that my rather large brother was sitting up in the canoe (instead of down inside where he should have been)...and I capsized their craft. He never lets me forget that moment because he lost his wallet and camera in the process.

There's an open water swim in Lake George NY every summer, 2.5k, 5k & 10k. Richard Gardener did it one year. I'm thinking I can for certain finish a 2.5 k.

I'm running more regularly too, still not back to normal yet, but getting there. Running 4 days a week now instead of 3. And I ran 4 miles on Tues. morning a full 2 minutes per mile faster than I ran the 5K in Shepherdstown.

Jack, Glad to hear of your progress. From my end, I ran a 5K last Sunday in 28:15, much faster than my Shephardstown race too. Good weather has also helped me log over 1,500 miles on my bike this year.

Bruce, that biking distance would rank you in the top 25 for the entire year in the leaderboards.  I started logging my stationary bike miles a few weeks ago while resting an injured foot and have already risen to tenth in the "30 day" category.

Outstanding performances

Post by Gary E on Sun Dec 27, 2015 10:57 am

It sure is great to see two of our own on top of the running leaderboards again. Russ has 72 miles and Don (who led for the past week or so) has 60.7 for the past week.  Russ is also 1st (with 30) and 3rd (with 27) in the "longest run in past 7 days" category

Jack leads the pushup category with 3980 in thirty days, while Linda has 1650 (I'm a distant 7th with 471). That little lady of mine has a total of four first place rankings along with a 20th for all females in the thirty day rankings (170 miles) and a 22nd place for all females with 2258 for the year thus far.

The best I can claim is 2nd in both the "thirty day swim totals" with 34.3 miles, and the yearly totals with 324.4 miles. I'm also 2nd in situps for the past 30 days with 1150...and I still can't see a six-pack.

Proud of our group's representation

Post by Gary E on Fri Feb 05, 2016 12:25 pm

Just wanted to let everyone know that Don has been atop the running leaderboard for the 50+ males with 66.2 miles for the week.  Other members are also prominent with quite a tight grouping:
11 Tom Walski (24.4)
12 russwyd (22.0)
14 Tutt (19.0)
15 Brutus (17.3)
16 Klemp (17.0)

Linda (my wife) still has her impressive "continuous running streak" in tact, and she's leading in multiple categories besides he age group 1st place in the 50+ female grouping.

I've also discovered that quite a few swimmers are now posting, so I've fallen to 2nd in the yearly rankings and 5th in the 30 day boards.  There has also been a half dozen teenagers that are ruining things for everyone by posting fictitious daily miles (like in the millions), but thus far only in the 18 and under, longest run, and seven day totals.  I tried posting a complaint to the administrator, but I think he's on vacation or something.  If he does remove them, they will probably just enter another fictitious name and be even more of a nuisance.  I guess that is what you get with a "wide open" site like this.

Thanks for posting Gary!  I'm just keeping the top spot on the 50+ board warm for Russ who will take it over for at least a week after he posts his Saturday-Sunday Rocky Raccoon 100 mile trail race which starts at 6AM on Saturday in Huntsville TX  -  He'll probably score an overall mileage lead on on all the boards too for a day except for the fictitious kids.  GO RUSS!!!!

I'm always amazed at Russ and Don's miles... Pretty impressed with the rest of the gang too, especially the relentless consistency year after year. Everyone has had a set back or two but they always seem to overcome it and get back to some good running.

Hi Guys, just checking in for a long-overdue update on my progress over the past year up to the Rocky Raccoon 100 this weekend. Nice to see this review of LogARun totals - Don did message for me to get my 100 for the race up ASAP but couldn't do it until I got back to the UK last night. Good to see the team still going on there, it's quite inspirational.

Way to Go Russ !!!! - now you're on top in the overall leaderboard (except for the false leaders) until your 3 mile taper run falls off(just could have been there a few days longer) - and you've got me on the 50+ at least for the rest of the week Very Happy cheers  -  Thanks for taking over the lead since I just dropped a couple of spots from being on top for the past few weeks.  This is the only "race" I can win at (sometimes) since all that's required is getting some miles in and speed doesn't matter  Very Happy  Great job showing the kids what you're made of!!

Thanks Don, that's a great list!

I'll be leaving it to you to take over the baton from the end of this week - I am having a week off and then only starting back into some slow jogging from next week without any real mileage. I will hopefully be getting back into proper training toward the end of February, so my mileage in March and April should go back up a bit. Watch out for the week of 23 May, as I should be somewhere over 150+ miles that week with the GUCR.

Keep up the good work and Go Cardiac Athletes! Great that we are showing the non-cardiacs how to do it.

DonMan is back atop the running leaderboards with 66.6 miles in the 50+ age grouping (Thanks to Russ taking a rare, and well deserved, break in his unbelievable training and racing schedule).  There are also several of us mere mortals hanging around the top twenty...including Twal in tenth place with 20.6 miles.

Now all we need to do is get that little lady from Texas to start posting her mileage. Oh, and winter to end, so that those of us that hate running indoors can get our mileage up again.

No, never "wimpy" Gary...

I'm hoping Don can keep the Leaderboard warm for a couple more weeks so I can ease back into my schedule gently. Got three more big races this year and need to make sure that "downtime" counts the way it needs to in terms of rest and recovery.
