Well, as is the case with all good things, our supremacy on the LogARun leaderboards has come to an end. Someone called Running Teacher has taken the top spot with 51.9 miles as of 9pm tonight (ET).

Personally, this marks the 12th consecutive week that I've logged an increase in mileage over the previous week. Only twice did that increase include more than an a mile and a half. I don't think I've ever been that conservative after coming back from an injury. I'm quite proud of such discipline...but I'm still running at a snail's pace.

I haven't bothered with that board in months. Maybe I'll put in the past week's runs and see where it places me.

Good week for me, 35 miles. That's probably enough to put me in the top 10. I managed just one 35 mi week all last year and the last time prior to that was 2009. Hoping I can keep it at 30-35 for the next couple mos.

I've been playing possum. Haven't bothered updating the site for a few months since I trashed all competition in pushups. If I had been keeping it up to date they would have seen me creeping up from 20-25-30-35 miles per week over the last two months.

But 40 mi/wk is about as far as I can go. I've been able to sustain 35-40 for maybe 8-10 weeks before a breakdown, but over 40 brings on injuries fairly quickly. I still carry a lot more weight than any of these guys.

Not scared and not "slackers" - just the ebb and flow of the 7 day leaderboards -  Sometimes in a rare moment when the mega milers are taking break, a few of us get near to top with our 40 mile weeks and it's worth sharing  -  Unfortunately Gary has a knee injury and has dropped off of running at all for now Sad    -  Russ is taking a rare few days off (or just didn't get yesterday's run posted yet) but he'll jump back up there when he does a long run or marathon or ultra Smile     I must have been in a lighter week and didn't get my last run posted yet when you looked.   I'm doing a long week this week so I'm up for now but will be tapering the next two for a marathon Very Happy   (and "Running Teacher" will eclipse us when he catches up on his posting)

The CA's are still well represented in the top 9 today -  thanks Jack for posting your mileage Smile

Runners (Male - Ages 50+) who have run the most miles over the last 7 days

1.  DonMan (43.8 )
2.  SumoRunner (37.7)

Re: LogARun Leaderboard

Post by russwyd on Thu Oct 03, 2013 9:10 am

And a belated happy birthday from me too Don Very Happy

As you noticed, I've stepped back the last few weeks - not for any particular reason other than I have been very busy and been away several times lately. I ran the Reykjavik Marathon at the end of August (3:19, not a bad run on tired legs), then went away to take my Dad on a visit to the WW1 battlefields in Flanders on a rare weekend off.

Last week I flew over to Athens to support a friend and the British team in the Spartathlon - 154 miles of tough, mountainous roads and tracks in searing heat with a 36 hour time limit (and yes, it's now on my bucket list, I just need to qualify with a sub 9:30 100km or a 150 mile race).

I'm off to Jersey, Channel Islands tomorrow for the marathon this weekend, and I have another marathon (or possibly two) in a couple of weeks, plus a run round the local 10 mile race. I've skipped the chance to run the Round Rotherham 50 miles, as I have an opportunity to add on the Porto Marathon, Portugal, instead. Then I have four weeks to taper down to the Winter 100, a tough, rugged 100 mile race at the end of November.

Add another trail marathon a couple of days before Christmas, and that should see me out for 2013. I've dropped a couple of half marathons as I need some rest, somewhere (!).

So I guess you can say I've been 'tapering' Rolling Eyes

2014 kicks off with the Country to Capital 45 miler, then the Thames Trot 50 miles, Malta Marathon, South Downs Way 50 miles, Thames Path 100 miles and hopefully the Grand Union Canal Race (145 miles), then Trailwalker 100km, Reykjavik Marathon again and I'll add another target for later in the year.
